January - Setting the Budget based on Pledge Commitments and Estimates of Unpledged Giving - Budget Goal for 2008 $704,000
February - Souper Bowl Sunday - Youth Collect Gifts for local Hunger Programs Mission Trip to Montana de Los, Honduras
March - One Great Hour of Sharing Lenten Offering - Our goal - $1 a week per member 7 weeks x 1005 Members = $7,035 ( $1 a week - I think we can do that much, don’t you?) OGHS Dollars are the first dollars that go for disaster relief aid in Christ’s name.
April - Rebuilding Together (Christmas in April) the Last Saturday of April - we help to refurbish the home or homes of needy and worthy families in our area. 100+ needed to help.
May - Pentecost Offering for Youth Ministries in our Community and Country.
June - South Oakland Shelter = SOS = We offering housing, food, comfort, care, transportation and friendship to persons temporarily homeless. 200 + volunteers needed. June 8 to 15 Youth Mission Work Camp in Washington D.C. - June 15-23 JUNE 15 TO 29 HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BLITZ BUILD IN PONTIAC - WE ARE BUILDING ONE HOME OURSELVES PART OF THE FAITH ENRICHMENT CENTER PROJECT - 10% TO MISSION.
July - New Wilmington Mission Conference – Youth and Adults July 21-28 A fabulous week of learning and sharing and see the world with new eyes and hearts.
September - Last Saturday - REACH OUT DAY - We reach out to physically help, and Personally become involved with local missions we support. 100+ needed to help.
October - World Communion Sunday = Peace Offering in support of peace making efforts In our Community and across the world. MONTH OF MISSION A series of Mission Speakers bringing us up to date on what is happening in Christ’s name across our community and around the world. Mission Match Offerings Received.
November - Thanksgiving Food Boxes for Lighthouse Aid Programs
December - Baldwin Center Gifts for the Christmas Store - Also - Christmas Joy Offering to aid retired church workers without social security benefits.
And Every Week - our ongoing collection of items, listed monthly, for FISH and the Open Door Christian Aid Center in Waterford.
And Every Communion Sunday – Our Deacons Offering for meeting the emergency Needs of persons of our church family, or who come to our church for help When we cannot refer to other agencies we support.
There is no Christian Church where
there isn’t a Church with a heart for helping a hurting world.
